5 Signs It's Time To Find Another Child Care Centre

While you may well believe you have found the best child care centre for your child, are you really sure? It’s essential to know what to look for in an exceptional day care centre, and any signs that may indicate that there are problems. If you are unable to be with your child during the working day, there’s no doubt you want to ensure he or she receives the best possible care. Here are signs to look out for that indicate the child care centre is not working out for your child.

1. Disrespecting your concerns

Any requests or issues you may have about your children’s care should be brought up with the manager and staff of the centre. If the staff ignore or dismiss your concerns, or the team grow rude or defensive, it should serve as a warning sign that the care of your child could be compromised when you are not around. Don’t think you’re being pedantic or overprotective. If you have questions for the staff, those questions should be answered in a helpful and attentive manner.

2. Registration and License

Every centre for child care Brisbane residents choose has a business name and a license. They are also required to follow the relevant compliance guidelines and have all the necessary supporting documentation. If the centre does not want to reveal details about its licensing or registration, it may be trying to hide something.

3. Poor Communication

A great day care centre will involve parents with the child’s care. Staff will conduct regular meetings so that parents are kept up-to-date with their child’s progress. If a centre is not following this kind of routine, then it may not be working for your child. As a parent, you should keep asking your child about the centre, the care, and the behaviour of staff. If your child is frightened of a caregiver, never take it with a pinch of salt. Child abuse and neglect is sadly very common these days, and there are vital signs to look out for.

4. Hygiene and Safety

Your child’s safety is of paramount importance, and is hygiene. You never want your child to come home feeling ill. Pay regular visits to the day care centre to make sure the centre itself and the staff keep excellent hygiene standards. The children’s play area should have proper fencing, and playmats, toys, and tables must be efficiently cleaned and disinfected. As a parent, you have every right to demand safety and hygiene standards.

5. The Staff

Do you frequently see new caregivers and members of staff? If centre staff aren’t too happy, chances are high your child may not be happy, either. Try to figure out what the problem may be and consider your options. Day care centres must be adequately staffed, and there are policies in this regard. If your centre is understaffed, you child may not be receiving adequate attention and stimulation.

If the director or head of the centre continues to show disrespect for you and your child’s concerns, it’s time to consider another facility. In fact, every instance of unpleasantness should be treated as a warning signs, and you should be cautious when it comes to the care of your child.
