Alaska Basketball Power Camp 2019 was held as Alaska Sports’ annual program in teaching young athletes the basic skills and core values of the sport. The basketball camp are being held in three locations: Baguio, Manila, and Bacolod.

The Baguio leg happened last April 14, 2019 which more than 300 kids participated in. This first leg was headed by Jeffrey Cariaso, Power Camp Director and Alaska Aces Assistant Coach. Other trainers present were Alaska Aces regulars Simon Enciso and Abel Galliguez. The second leg held last April 24, 2019 at the Ateneo de Manila University had more than 200 participants. Alaska Aces Vic Manuel, Chris Banchero, Jake Pascual, Yutien Andrada, and Christopher Exciminiano coached the kids along with Jeffrey Cariaso.

The purpose of the Alaska Basketball Power Camp is to instill in children that the importance of joining an activity like this is to be able to learn the values of determination, teamwork, hard work, perseverance, discipline, and sportsmanship, and not just about winning the game.

Furthermore, the camp teaches how important it is to eat the right food and for children to be more active rather than just play with gadgets. Alaska Milk Corporation wants children to get into sports by being a participant in the Alaska Basketball Power Camp.

The Bacolod leg, held at the Trinity Christian School gym, was coached by former PBA player Willie Miller and Bacolod-based coach Tata Belangel. There were close to 500 participants. Basic skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, foot work, and defense were covered. There were various age groups who were rotated under different coaches.
