Your Guide To Moving To West Texas

If you are considering a move to west Texas, you have probably done some research on the state, the weather, and job opportunities in the area. You may have even begun to look into some housing options and apply for jobs.

However, if you are just in the beginning stages of planning your move, it is important to consider your options for different cities in western Texas. There are a variety of options with many benefits that showcase the positives of living in the western part of the state. As you plan your move to west Texas, consider the following cities:

El Paso

El Paso is located on the Rio Grande and is a border city right across the border from Juarez, Mexico. El Paso is known as “Sun City” because it has over 300 days of sunlight every year. The city is also known for its amazing Tex-Mex food.

The city is home to the Medical Center of the Americas, the only medical care provider complex in the western part of the state and The University of Texas at El Paso. It also hosts the Sun Bowl, which is played in the college football postseason. If you like the idea of living in a bigger city in western Texas, there are plenty of El Paso houses for sale.

Midland

Midland is another solid option if you are moving to west Texas. Midland got its name from being the midway point between El Paso and Fort Worth, so this is also a strategically placed city if you plan to travel throughout Texas. Midland is known for its history and laid back vibe.

If Midland is on your list of possible cities to move to, it is also worth noting that Midland has a low crime rate. Combining that with a good job market and plenty of attractions makes Midland a great choice for a move. In Midland, you can visit the Sibley Nature Center, the Marian Blakemore Planetarium, or if you have children, the Fredda Durham Children’s Museum.

Odessa

Odessa is just a short 20 minute drive from Midland and is known as a family-friendly community. While the city is growing, it has maintained its small town feel, and, like Midland, has a very low crime rate.

In Odessa, you would have your choice of small neighborhoods, or a more metro area to live in. While there are many things to do in Odessa, like park, theaters, and more, the city is famous for football, and specifically Ratliff Stadium, which was featured in Friday Night Lights. Also like Midland, Odessa has a growing job market, so if you are considering a move here, you will have plenty of job opportunities.

If you are considering a move to west Texas, there are plenty of cities to choose from that offer urban living or small town living. There are also plenty of attractions, as well as a booming job market in west Texas. Consider El Paso, Midland, and Odessa as you plan your move to west Texas.
